If you are a Construction Contractor or a Plant Hirer and you haven't had equipment stolen, consider yourself lucky. Plant theft is running at around 1m every week, but in many cases, the machine and site security is low and may not exist at all.
It need not be that way. At Construction Industry Theft Solutions (CITS), we aim to reduce the level of Plant Theft through the dissemination of information and the adoption of a Code of Practice. CITS provides members and associate members, be they plant hirers or construction contractors, with information about security products and methods to help combat this lack of security.
On the CITS website members can find our Code of Practice which is designed as a checklist to enable them to put together an Anti-Theft strategy tailored to the needs of their own business. In addition, on the site are links and contact details for many types of anti-theft devices, tracking systems and marking products.
